I am so happy that Carmegeddon II is this weekend. The perfect excuse to sit tight at home, rest and pick up the shambles that has become of my house. It should come to no surprise that the culmination of sleepless nights, drinking and the weather changes from my trip has resulted to a cold. Hope you all are healthy and can enjoy the rest of the weekend.

The back half of my business trip, I headed south to Miami, Florida. I was beyond excited to be in South Beach since the Hubs was meeting me for a small parent getaway. Also, the last time I was in Miami, I was 3 months pregnant with Big D nursing virgin lava flows. So this time, it would be different...business by day, and many pleasures by night. And in the short time we were there, we packed in a ton of activities. We swam in the Atlantic, visited the late Versace mansion, stuffed ourselves with hearty Cuban food, and went out clubbing for three consecutive nights. Double take. That's right, we were parents who went mildly wild. We painted Miami red, danced at the hottest clubs, and stayed up into the wee hours.
On a side note, I'd like to thank our lovely moms who watched the littles during our mini hiatus from parenting.

Day 2 of my Big Apple trip entailed walking throughout the Coterie fashion show. Of which, I had to look industry chic yet somewhat comfortable since I was on the feet all day long. My look for the day was a leather circle skirt with a Zoe Krassen sweatshirt, and in typical NY fashion, an all black look.
On a side note, those 3 inch heels inflicted so much pain and disaster to my feet by the end of day. The sight of them makes me cringe.

Ohhhh it's so good to be back in sunny California!! The past week has been a fun whirlwind from New York to Miami, but it feels good to be back home in the company of my precious littles. I feel so out of touch with the world, away from blogosphere, and little access to computers... What's been going on people? I need to catch up and devote hours to downloading, but you can tell me too what's been going on. Apparently I missed the space shuttle Endeavor circling around Los Angeles last week?

A recent trip to Target triggered some early excitement for Halloween decorating this year. Halloween is not a typical holiday that I get gung-ho about. The tradition of carving pumpkins repulses me, and I have never been fond of eating pumpkin seeds. And in past years when I did have the stomach to carve a pumpkin, it ended up rotting and dying before the 31st. Now before you pass any judgment, I don't rob my kids of their holiday. We still go to the pumpkin patch, pick our pumpkins and go on our annual harvest hay ride.
So in the midst of my Target shopping, I came across craft pumpkins to decorate. Artificial pumpkins that don't require carving and can be reusable for future uses. The glitter merchandised next to it was also enticing. Keep your eyes peeled on a nearby DIY craft post. Here are some inspirational photos of chic pumpkin decorating.

I finally hung our family photo wall collage in our dining room. The bare walls have been screaming for some accessories! What do you think? Overall, I was very happy with the result, and even considering expanding it further with another row. The hardest part of this project wasn't hanging them, but it was the amount of time spent re-sizing the pictures in photo shop just so it could fit in the funky Ikea size dimensions.

For a Mommy and D one on one date, we headed downtown to visit the LA Natural History Museum. The place was super duper cool! School was back in session for most kids, so we took advantage of the empty hallways and owned the museum. There was so much to see there. We saw the fossils of various dinosaurs...of which the sheer size of them was quite intimidating. I was awe struck, yet D was scared, by the magnitude of the T-Rex and Triceratops (see photos below). We then explored the life size exhibit of wild animals in their habitat, from apes to sea lions to elephants. I do have to say, this thirty-something year old mom was quite intrigued by the dinosaur exhibit, whilst the three year old toddler enjoyed the animal exhibit. Perhaps when D gets a little bit older, a little more knowledgeable, he will have a better appreciation for fossils. That, or I am a deep rooted science geek.

I should be packing for my trip right now, but I thought I'd take a short break to do a quick snap of the weekend. No major events aside from reconnecting with a newly pregnant friend (for those who follow me on Instagram, that is NOT me who is preggo!), playing with the littles, and of course watching endless hours of football. Unfortunately, USC experienced an unfortunate upset against Stanford this weekend...a loss that caused a lot of heartache for the Hubs...so why do me kids look so darn happy in this snapshot?!
In the meantime, while I jet set across the country, follow me on Instagram to see snaps of my trip. Toodles!
For those who don't follow college football, #7 is SC's quarterback, Matt Barkley.

Next to doing laundry, packing is one of my least favorite tasks to do. The idea alone sends me great anxiety...pre-planning the right outfits and taking a hunch on the weather. I face an even larger challenge by dressing for two different cities: New York and Miami. New York, the city where black is always the new black and Miami, where sequins are worn year round. Despite the fact that I am ready to dress for fall, the warm weather is throwing a wrench to my plans. So my solution is to mix up some pre-fall looks such as sweaters and sweatshirts paired back to skirts and shorts.

In less than a week...I'll be packing my bags
And jet-setting off to New York...with a final destination to
By day, I hope to be indulging in some of this
and by night wearing some of that
The trip will be a mix of both business and pleasure. The Hubs will be meeting up with me in Miami for some R&R for a Parents Gone Wild type of weekend getaway. I can't wait!!

Today was Big D's first day of preschool. The outcome? Very successful. A little too successful if you ask me. His transition into a new classroom, meeting new teachers, playing in a bigger playground and finding some new friends turned out to be a very seamless experience. He enjoyed his 3 hours of independence so much so that he was upset when I picked him up to leave to go home.
The only challenge we faced today was my attempt to get the one perfect picture of this big milestone. It only took about 20 takes, but I finally got one good frame-worthy shot.
PS. In case you were wondering about Mom and Dad's state of being of their son going to school? A little sad with a few tears shed. But we survived too!

As the summer comes to a close, I have indulged in the great outdoors at some of Southern California's finest excursions. Here are things that made my week:
First, the Bungalow lounge at the Fairmont Miramar -- my new go-to happy hour destination on the Westside. You will feel like you stepped foot in a Baja, California cabana with the string of Christmas lights hanging from above, the eclectic colors of Mexican blankets, and the mismatched patio furniture that set this outdoor venue. The best time to arrive is just around happy hour where you can grab a refreshment and catch a beautiful sunset over the Malibu canyon.
A hike at Fryman Canyon. The soreness aches as I type about the gnarly hike I endured this past weekend. First rookie mistake...taking my 3 year old son in the jogging stroller. It was not easy pushing 60 pounds up a straight incline (Big D's weight plus a BOB stroller). However, I enjoyed the challenges this hike had to offer, and it wasn't overly crowded like other local Hollywood Hill hiking trails.
The Pasadena Flea Market. I was in search of a bar cart, and was successful in my findings! More to come on my future DIY project - but despite the discomfort of the triple digit heat, I enjoyed my time sifting through antiques and marching through people's pasts. The Pasadena Flea Market has been on my LA bucket list (you know, things I have to do before I move out of LA). And now that I have experienced it, I know how to be better prepared for the next trip: umbrella, camel pack full of water, and one of those old lady shopping carts to wheel my new treasures around.

During NY fashion week, all eyes are set on the designers and their clothes. However, second to the designers themselves, the attendees of the runway shows are just as pivotal in setting the latest trends in fashion. My eyes have been set on the street style of these fab ladies.

The agenda for the weekend calls for "F's": football games, fashion shows and flea markets. In all the 10 years of living in Los Angeles, I have yet to go to the Pasadena Flea Market at the Rose Bowl. The intensity of bargain hunting and digging can be a bit overwhelming, but for those who go, rave about it and find the most amazing hidden treasures...vintage Chanel?!? It will be an extra long weekend since I took the following Monday and Tuesday off to moonlight as a stay at home mom and take Big D to his first days of preschool. I am holding on to these very last moments before he officially becomes a preschooler! (Fighting back the sobs!)
Enjoy these last weekends of warm, sunny weather and hope you have a lovely weekend.

Homeland? Any ounce of energy that remains after my long day is completely exhausted with this political thriller. Must see...

It's hard to believe that I am at the 200th mark. So much has changed since my first post and so much has improved in my content by adding some photoshop skills and learning more about photography. Many have been drawn to my most popular post about home decorating with Hermes Trays. Others have come to me for DIY crafts such as party favors and stationery. And most have enjoyed snaps of the wee ones (as I am sure my family are clicking through these).
I have a few goals that I've set over the next 200 posts. First is to not beat myself up because I am not posting content daily. If I have a dreadful day of work, or an evening full of temper tantrums, or really just that exhausted, it's OK to take a break. Second is to get organized and have more consistency in my content. This will entail a lot of brainstorming in order to get the creative juices flowing. Lastly, I can't wait to re-do the facade of this blog...it's time for a face lift and some botox injections :).
To my readers, thanks for coming by to visit me. Whether it's daily, monthly or just when you can, I appreciate all of your love and support. Because of you, I am driven to stay focused on the mission of this blog and hope to keep many entertained with aesthetically pleasing photos and witty banter.
Cheers to the next 200..
