{DIY} Advent Calendars

Year after year, I have been in search for the coolest, most unique advent calendars - beyond the generic punch out chocolates, which are always sold out before December comes.  THIS year, I decided to get creative and make my own countdown calendar...without spending a lot of money.  So with a lot of improvises around the house and a small trip to Party City, I came up with this glammy looking advent calendar.

What I used:
  • pretty paper in various colors
  • rubber stamps
  • glue dots
  • clothes pins
  • string
  • push pins
  • various candy and treats from the $1 bin at Party City

Since I couldn't find a nice way to attach these to the paper, I decided to write the special treat or activity of the day behind the paper, and kept these aside.

I strung the numbers across one of my kitchen walls, which also happens to be my chalkboard.  But alternatively, you can use a cork board, or foam board.

Since my paper colors were looking a little Valentine's Day like, I added a bit of gold garland to border my calendar.
