Farewell 2013

2013 has been such an amazing year for me.  I vowed for the year to be one of FUN, and in looking back, I think that I nailed all of my adventurous goals.  My husband made my long time dream come true by whisking me away to the most romantic city in the world, Paris  (and then --> Cannes).  My friends allowed some serious kid-free adult time through Stagecoach and a girls trip to Puerto Vallarta.  My parents, as always, spoiled us to some memorable family trips to Palm Springs, Santa Barbara and finally Disneyland.  I can truly say that I feel blessed to have experienced so many heavenly places and encounter these memories.

I also cannot ignore the fact that everyone in my family has endured strong health and happiness.  With the exception of our 4-legged friend, Snickers, who passed away earlier this year, I am so grateful that 2013 gave us all our health.

And now, I look forward to many new goals and endeavors in 2014.  I can’t wait to share them with you all!  But in the mean time, I send to you a heart felt Happy New Year.  May we all make better and new memories in the New Year.

xx

Bohemia Winter

Of course I could not resist in treating myself to some self-gifting while Christmas shopping for the fam.  I have been eyeing this Free People dress for some time now, and alas, I have given in to the temptation.  And I am so glad that I did.  One, it is the type of bohemian dress I can wear year round.  But most of all, the embroidery design details and the drawstring ties allow me to hide those extra unwanted pounds I have accumulated since Halloween! ’Tis the season to be jolly!

Dash of Merry

Christmas is nearly a week away and I am sluggishly trekking through the rest of the work week before the start of a long worthy holiday vacation.  Luckily, all of the shopping has been had, and what’s left is the wrapping, hiding and surprising.  Big D has asked Santa for '15 race cars and a race track’ while Lil Tyty has made additional requests for cars too.  Can’t wait to add to the thousands of matchbox car collections we already have, and the additional hazards of stepping on them in the middle of the night.  Santa - can you please tell the elves to produce ones that are more apparent and less painful?
Thanks kindly.

Snaps: Around Here

We were holed up in the house all weekend long, recuperating after many weeks of being sick.  It was wonderful, however, to be at home consumed with Christmas cheer through out the house.  Big D and I made our first attempt to make a gingerbread house, of which he lost interest mid way and I ended up finishing the work of art edible delight below.

Mad for Plaid

Due to the financial stresses of holiday shopping, it’s been a long while since I have shopped for some clothes for myself.  But now that plaid is emerging in every form of garment - tops, skirts, pants and dresses, I feel the need to do some self-gifting.  I want this dress featured below to wear for Christmas dinner.

Paper + Parties: Cowboy Birthday Party

Yee haw! In a recent visit back home to Santa Maria, we celebrated the 2nd birthday of a sweet little cowboy, Trigg.  And what a fun birthday theme it was - with play horses and bails of hay, cowboy hats and Santa Maria style barbecue.  The party was small and quaint, yet overwhelmed with such warmth and love everywhere.

Snaps: It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Despite a jam-packed weekend and sicknesses festering, we managed to start the holiday trimming and decorating around the house (with the heavy help of my parents!).  And for the first time EVER, I brought the boys to see Santa Claus.  All in all it was a successful experience, patient boys who waited over an hour in line and politely told Santa that they were very good boys who wanted race cars for Christmas.

Wreath Love

Despite the dollops of anti-bacterial applied or the amount of zinc consumed, I have managed to get hit by the flu that’s been circulating in the household! Uggh! Thus the reason why I have been out of commission the past week.  Between tending to sick kids, suffering from sleepless nights, this flu has taken a toll on the fam. Nonetheless, I am not letting this sickness ruin my holiday cheer.  So, ’tis the season for the Holiday wreath.  Here are some DIY ways to re-create the true and symbolic meaning of Christmas.

December Mood Board

Happy Cyber Monday! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families.  It was a long and torturous weekend on our end as we have been fighting through some terrible colds and flus with the wee ones.  We made the mistake of trekking far out of state with these symptoms and seemed to have exasperated the sicknesses! boo.  So while I have been very busy nursing these babies back to health, and dodging this flu, I got to sneak in some cyber shopping today and indulge in some good deals.  Some holiday gift shopping and of course (duh!) some self shopping here and here

PS.  It’s been balmy toasty in both California and Arizona this past weekend and I am yearning for some winter weather!!

Words of Encouragement

Lately I have been feeling a little down and discouraged.  I can’t exactly pinpoint the reason for feeling so low.  Perhaps it’s the financial stress looming over the Holidays? Or the bad LA traffic that’s kept me caged up in my car for hours? Those extra pounds gained from excessive Halloween candy? Or even a job that at times keeps me feeling stagnant?  Whatever it is, I hope to snap out of my funk with a long Thanksgiving weekend ahead of me.  I recently came across these Pinteresting words of encouragement that I found somewhat comforting.  It seems as if I am not the only one out there feeling down and out if such encouraging quotes are artfully created.
