May Mood Board

May in Southern California marks the turn of the spring-summer transition.  What a happy time period!  What is there to complain about?  The weather begins to warm, the flowers bloom, mothers' celebrated, and we've got a 3-day weekend to look forward to.  OH and we cannot forget about Cinco De Mayo - viva margaritas!!!

The weekends through out May are already filling up. This upcoming weekend will be Big D's preschool spring auction (aka a private Foo Fighter's Concert).  A couple of dinners with friends. And I foresee more trips to the beach as the weather warms.  I also have a couple of parties to begin planning - so get ready for some 2 year old birthdays and graduation posts.

Life's A Peachy Beach

It's been nearly a year since we have been to the beach, and even longer going to one remotely close to LA. It's a little sad knowing that we are miles away from the beach, yet we don't take advantage of it.  And you could clearly see that we were in unfamiliar territory when the boyz were hesitant to walk in the sand, and scared to get close to shore. Oh, the city urban boys I am raising....this will surely have to change and will need to make a constant effort to get to the beach more often.

DIY - Classroom Project

As a Room Parent for Big D's preschool, I was recently put in charge of their classroom project to later be auctioned at the upcoming spring event.  Challenge number one was coming up with something creative and not too cheesy, an item that parents would be willing to bid on and enjoy....(I mean, do parents really cherish blankets or coffee mugs with hand prints?)  I was inspired by this photo collage on Pinterest...and thought we could do our own spin off of it.  A photo collage of preschoolers and their "favorite things".  It was really adorable to hear the perspective and priorities of these little 3 year olds - cars, pizza, dolls, etc...I'd love to hear what their favorite things are ten years from now.

Anyhoo...challenge number two was creating a chalk board sign with out the kids smearing the chalk dust while playing around with their signs.

Challenge number three would be getting the kids to actually hold their sign...

Here's how I did it (with the helping hand of other mommies):

STEP 1: Instead of a chalk board, I used black paper and a cheap wood frame from Michaels'. This also made it very easy to switch out the papers between kiddos so then we weren't stuck erasing and writing between each take.

STEP 2: Soliciting the favorite things from each parent/kid and writing out the items

STEP 3: Hair spraying the chalk as an at-home fixative to prevent smearing...it really works!

STEP 4: snap the kiddos and teachers

and the final RESULT.... a class photo framed

Family Snap Reel

Thankfully, the last few weekends yielded little obligations and lots of family time.  Can't complain about any of that.  Family snaps and tidbits from the past weekend.

Happy Weekend

The 24 hour visit to Vegas threw my week off kilter.  Even if I was there for business over pleasure, the trashy less-than-classy crowds, the casinos infiltrated with cigarette smoke, and the sexual innuendos screaming everywhere was enough to put me out of commission for a few days. But I am back in LA and recouping.

With that said, the garage sale we were planning on hosting this weekend has been put on hold.  We'll have to wait until a few weeks before we get clearly organized and price ticket our stuff....but for my special readers who are interested, I 'll be posting stuff online this week for you all to get a sneak peek before it opens to the public!  Just stand by...I promise, there are some goodies to be sold.

In the meantime, have a great weekend. (or what's left of it)

Chin Up

Life seems a bit erratic and I am in need of words of encouragement to get through a bitter, tough week. We're inching there and it's Friday.

Kids With Swag

The casual denim looks of these cutie pies has me swooning.  I only wish my boys would accessorize with sunglasses, eye glasses, ties and hats.  I buy and then try, but they rip them right off.  Sigh.

Speaking of, as a segue to my next topic,  we are hosting a yard sale this weekend selling a combination of many things. From furniture, size small women clothes, and boy clothes, accessories and toys. If you are interested, please shoot me a message for more details.

Palm Leaves

A little fashion editorial to share with you on this hump day Wednesday.  Leafy, green palm prints have been emerging on the fashion runways, and featured in retailers such as Michael Kors' most recent ready-to-wear spring line.  What do you think of this trend?  Me personally, I don't think I'd be able to rock this.

On a side note, I have been killing myself doing this Minka Kelly treadmill work out.  However, after mending my sores and cricks, I am slowly seeing results.  10 more days until bikini reveal!

Yet another unimaginable, unthinkable tragedy that strikes our home.  With a heavy heart and the good grace of the powers from above, my prayers and thoughts go out to those affected by such a horrible act that happened on this very day.

I can't help but pollute my mind with all of the graphic photos and videos from Boston...trying to make sense of it all.  And again, I am reminded to hug my little nuggets a little tighter and embrace my family while I still can.

This photo pretty much summed up the weekend.  We did a lot of scootering.  From ramps, to sidewalks to parks we hit all mediums of scooterville.  And because of the gloomy weather over the weekend, I didn't feel guilty sleeping in and napping when I had the chance.  The upcoming week will be a little busy with business travels to Las Vegas and prepping for Dylan's upcoming end of school project (of which I can't wait to share once I get more photos uploaded!).  In the middle of it all, I plan on sneaking in more Minka Kelly treadmill work outs and Insanity work out videos...

Have a great week.

Happy Weekend

It's the first weekend of Coachella and I've begun trend spotting all the latest music festival fashion via instagram.  As a pre-cursor to Stagecoach in a few weeks, I am starting my desert shopping list - first on the list, cut off denim shorts.  Second would be cowboy boots.  Lastly, a party cowboy hat.

No major plans for the upcoming weekend, but we will be watching the Master's Tourney.  A golf tournament that the Hubs looks forward to annually, and I partially enjoy since I catch my best naps by listening to the theme music.

Have a happy weekend.

  • As mothers, we have all been there and done that.  Check out this Tumblr that is gaining nationwide attention Reasons My Son is Crying. It's hilarious, and you will for sure say "I totally get it"
  • As a room parent in Big D's class, I have been researching creative ideas for their class project.  So far I love this idea, but not sure how feasible this is for 3 year olds.
  • I have been searching for a big boy bed for Big D - yes, I think it is finally time to promote him from toddler bed to twin bed.  I have yet to find the perfect one, but like the rustic idea of this one.

Le Boyfriend

Let me be the first to say that I am not the most comfortable when it comes to the camera.  More often than not, my previous style files have been with out heads, or hidden behind hats or glasses. I don't know how to pose naturally, smile, and definitely can't relax my shoulders.  It's not my nature!!!  And by no means am I aspiring to be a super model or ranked style blogger, I just want to share my wear to work "chic mom" looks via this outlet.   So here it goes.

I have been searching high and low for the perfect boyfriend jeans.  A pair that isn't too baggy, and a wash with distressing that is right for spring.  And I finally found a great pair....at the Gap.  The sexy boyfriend is a really cute fit and their sizing runs true to size...and I can't complain about the ticket price compared to contemporary denim I have been shopping.

Happy 21 Months

Today is Lil Tyty's 21 month birthday.  I know I am stating the obvious when I say that time is flying at warp speed, and it seems just like yesterday he came into this world.  But what's even more crazy to me is that Big D was exactly 21 months old when Lil Tyty was born.  I can't even fathom the thought of having a newbie with a now 21 month old....what were the Hubs and I thinking and how did we survive back then ?  We practically had a baby while having another baby (pictures to prove below)!

All photos were Lil Tyty's first days home, Big D  -21 months.

P+P: Favorite Things Birthday Party Theme

I have been gathering ideas for lil Tyty's upcoming birthday and came across this most adorable "Favorite Things" birthday theme.   It has all the elements of a glammy party with a modern twist: large balloons, fringe tassels, calligraphy, and confetti.  Perhaps I will take notes from this theme for a 40th birthday party idea.  Instead of tutu's we will wear high heels.  And sub the milk for champagne.
