Just some snaps from our front yard, smelling and picking the flowers. To think that this cutie is now more than half my height with an even larger personality!

The Hubs has been crazy, super, busy with work. Between late night calls, last minute business trips, and over the weekend projects, his time has been strapped to this video game launch. And I try to keep positive, as he co-parents when he can. But as the trite British, phrase goes, I must "Keep Calm, and Carry On" until next November, when the game launches in stores, and work-life returns to steady balance.
The boys. I love them to bits and pieces. And as they grow older, the house gets even louder and rowdier. Between mitigating over toys not shared, pulling a climber off a falling bar stool, and appeasing every whine and cry, I find that I am more a referee instead of mom. On top of it all, I have a 3 1/2 year old going on 13, who expresses these hyper-sensitive emotions that I have to respond with the utmost care.
And then there's me. Once you peel away the thick layers of pent up mother's guilt, you'll find a slew of a mess. My stress levels have reached an all time high, and I feel pressure coming from every direction. And I get snappier as the pressure progresses. Between clocking hours at my day job, fostering the growth of this bloggity blog (trying), and balancing my role as a loving mom (striving) and devoted wife (attempting), I have been worn down to the bit. And drowning with unkept deadlines.
Beyond all this, I have been craaaaaaaaving for change. A transformation. Whether it be moving to a new city, taking on a new job, redecorating my house.... something. Do you ever feel as if you are running on a hamster wheel and you just want to jump out of your sordid routine? Yep, party of one standing right here.
Like I said, I have struggled with this balancing act time and time again. And I realize that I am not dealing with world class issues here. I'm just going through one of those
weeks months where I am 'meh' about everything. Got any positive words of inspo? I have to say, this one carried me through the weekend :)

A long weekend in Palm Desert was exactly what I needed. I unplugged from technology (with the exception of a few instagrams), indulged in some highly caloric drinks to replace my meals, and even slept in late mornings. The men even enjoyed their time away! Big D over came his trepidation with the pool and enjoyed swimming for hours on end.
Beautiful mountains of Palm Desert
A tired and hungry prince-in-training resting poolside
A few peaceful moments while the grandparents were watching the kids
Shooting oysters for my very first time

There is a ton of buzz going around F. Scott Fitzgerald's "Great Gatsby" movie. And it seems as if the roaring 20's themes are popping up and around through the party circuit. I thought I'd share our version of 20's looks from Big D's preschool fundraising benefit. My dress was borrowed from the archives at work, but it was so much fun wearing the fringe and tassels. And how sleek does the Hub's look in his bow tie? (PS. that bow was a labor of love!). Speaking of the movie, I am itching to see it and am gaga over Leonard DiCaprio...

Hamburgers, bikinis, sunglasses, and a six pack of cold beer...these are all essential for the Memorial Day Weekend. But what is most important of all is a rad playlist that you can bob your head to, and even sing obnoxiously loud. I have compiled a playlist of my favorite songs that are on queue when bbq'ing and sittin' poolside. There's an eclectic mix below to cater to all genres - some pop music, old skool and new skool rap, oldies but goodies, and a dash of country.
What are your favorite summertime songs?
- Margaritaville - Jimmy Buffet
- Free Fallin' - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
- Good Feeling - Flo Rida
- Paradise - Coldplay
- Don't Stop Believin' - Journey
- Chicken Fried - Zac Brown Band
- Born In the USA - Bruce Springsteen
- Empire State of Mind - Jay Z, Alicia Keys
- Ho Hey - Lumineers
- Summertime - Kenny Chesney
- We Found Love - Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris
- Under the Bridge - Red Hot Chili Peppers
- We Are Young - Fun
- Wagon Wheel - Darius Rucker
- Nuthin' But a 'G' Thang - Dr. Dre featuring Snoop Dogg

With the hundreds of party themes out there, it was difficult for me to narrow down my options for Lil Tyty's upcoming 2nd birthday. I came across this theme, and found it fitting for
a) kid is still a baby, so before he starts having a say as to his theme, I'll take advantage and dictate the party
b) "You are my Sunshine" is a lullaby that is vey sentimental - I sang it to both my kids when they were babies, and to this day, I get a little teary eyed hearing it.
c) On top of these mushy sentiments, sunshine and yellow are fitting for a hot and summery birthday party.
Now that I have nailed the theme, get ready for some DIY craft posts on favors and decor soon.

Boys - I was surrounded by lots of them all through out the weekend. Tall, dark, young and crazy, the range of them and their antics left me exhausted, not to mention I was 2 against 1 when the Hubs left for out of town at the last minute...so I am going to make this post quick and snappy. Nighty night!

Hello Weekend! This work week was a tough one. One that wore me down to the bone. I am grateful for some time away from the office to de-stress. How do I de-stress? Unleash my type A tendencies. I am itching to get the house organized and prepping my walls for some wallpapering. I can't wait to show you the final result. Have a happy weekend!

By now, you probably gathered that pink is one of my all time favorite colors. If the Hubs allowed it, I would tickle the whole house in blush tone shades and soft petal accents. But for now, I am limited to my little office space that screams girly everywhere.

The long Memorial Weekend suddenly creeped in and is just 10 days away...is it me or is this year flying at warp speed? Anyhoo, we plan on spending the weekend away to a place that is HOT, HOT, HOT which means some time will be spent frolicking in the pool. And since the past year, the boys have out grown their swim gear, and it's time to buy some new ones. I have since researched and compiled my favorite board shorts and now wish I can buy them all.
What are your plans for Memorial Day?
Hola PiC readers, I took a little break from the blogosphere to re-coop and get re-energized. I found myself for the last couple days a little mind fatigued - experiencing lack luster creative and just not excited with the ideas and topics to blog about....On top of it all , I finally got out of my comfort zone this week, and took the initiative to get my biz rolling. Unfortunately, when I knocked on a couple of doors, I faced some "no"s...and have to admit, I got a little discouraged.
So I put myself in a brief time out.
I watched some good TV and some really, REALLY bad TV - and even watched some Oscar nod movies (hello RedBox, I kinda love you) in order to give my little brain and courage a break. But I am back and recharged and ready to go up to bat again.

Despite the fact that I was nearly melting from the scorching heat, it was a lovely Mother's Day weekend. Boy do I feel like a lucky gal who was spoiled to pieces.
Flowers picked from my very own garden, made into mini bouquets for co-workers
A hand painted pot courtesy of Big D for Mother's Day
A statement ring worn to accessorize with a springtime bouquet
Waiting for the sun to set
My favorite place in all of Los Angeles - the Santa Monica Bluffs
The one best snap out of 100 photos taken...I just wanted ONE photo with my boys and this was all I got!
We wouldn't be here with out them....A special thanks and big hug to the Grandmothers out there. Because of you, there's more love filled in our lives and...along with that, an added bonus of sneaking in a date night and sleeping in a few extra hours for us parents. Happy Mother's Day.

Rightfully so, Mother Nature is treating us So-Cal moms to some perfect weather. Take advantage of it. Bask in the sun, relax and be selfish....Happy Mother's Day to you all.

Moms, it's OUR big day coming up this weekend, and to all of you, a big bear hug, an 'atta girl', a cheers, a breakfast full of complex carbohydrates...you deserve it.
If you had the day to yourself, with no motherly tasks or obligations, what is the first thing you want to do? Come on I want to hear it!
