Mixing it Up

I find that the key to maintaing a healthy lifestyle full of exercise is to constantly mix things up.  I break fitness monotony through rotating many activities such as running, hiking, pilates and tennis.  It also helps to have a buddy system for moral support and a kick ass music playlist to get you moving.  I like running to Pandora’s ‘Power Hip Hop Work Out Mix’ to keep up the motivation.  Here are other work outs I like to rotate while hitting the gym and I have seen fast results:

  • CARDIO WORKOUT: 1 minute at 5.0, 1 minute at 5.5, 1 minute at 6.0, 1 minute at 6.5, 1 minute at 7, 1 minute at 7.5, 1 minute at 8.0, 2 minutes at 4.5.  Repeat 5 times.
  • ARM WORKOUT: 10 pushups, 20 dips, 30 bicep curls, 40 second plank, 50 second knee tucks, 40 second plank, 30 bicep curls, 20 dips, 10 push ups
  • CORE WORK OUT: 1 min right side plank, 1 min left side plank, 1 minute bridge plank, 30 right oblique crunch, 30 left oblique crunch, 20 scissors each leg, 20 mountain climbers, 10 regular sit-ups, 10 vertical leg crunch, 10 russian twists, 15 mountain climbers, 10 scissors each side, 60 side to side foot touch.
